Hours Calculator
Count hours between two times — great for timesheets.

End times earlier than start times are treated as overnight shifts.
Timesheet math
Hours worked = clock-out − clock-in − unpaid breaks. Overnight shifts wrap past midnight, which trips up naive subtraction — 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours, not −16. Decimal hours (minutes ÷ 60) are what payroll systems expect.
Know your break rules
U.S. federal law doesn't mandate breaks, but many states do (California: 30 unpaid minutes per 5 hours, plus paid 10-minute rests). Short breaks under 20 minutes generally must be paid when offered — check your state's rules.
