GPA Calculator

Calculate your GPA from course grades and credit hours.

Quick answer

GPA is your grade points averaged by credit hours: multiply each course's grade points (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0) by its credits, sum them, and divide by total credits. Weighted GPAs add extra points for honors or AP courses.

Credit-weighted averaging

GPA multiplies each grade's point value (A = 4.0, B = 3.0…) by the course's credits, sums, and divides by total credits — so a 4-credit B moves your GPA more than a 1-credit A. Plus/minus grades step by roughly 0.3 points.

Cumulative GPA moves slowly

Each semester's weight shrinks as credits accumulate: with 90 credits banked, even a perfect 15-credit term lifts a 3.0 only to about 3.14. Grade forgiveness policies, where offered, move the needle far faster than retaking the average.
