The caterer's formula
Plan two drinks per guest for the first hour and one per hour after — a 4-hour party of 24 needs ~120 servings. A wine bottle pours five glasses, a 750 ml spirit bottle about sixteen cocktails, and a case of beer covers 24 servings.
Round up, and mind the rest
Unopened bottles return; empty ones can't be conjured — buy 10–15% over. Stock a third of servings as non-alcoholic (sparkling water, sodas) for pacing and non-drinkers, plan a pound (½ kg) of ice per guest, and arrange rides before the toast.
