Discount Calculator

Find the sale price and savings after any discount.

Quick answer

A discounted price is the original minus the markdown: sale price = original × (1 − discount%). A 25% discount means you pay 75%. To stack a coupon on a sale, apply each percentage in turn — don't just add the percentages together.

Stacked discounts multiply

25% off then an extra 20% off is not 45% — the second discount applies to the already-reduced price: 0.75 × 0.80 = 0.60, a 40% effective discount. Retailers know the difference reads bigger than it is.

Percent off vs. dollars off

A $20 coupon beats 20% off below $100 and loses above it — the crossover is coupon ÷ rate. When both are offered, order matters too: applying the dollar coupon first usually yields the lower final price.
