Slope Calculator
Find the slope and equation of a line through two points.
Slope (m)

Equation
y = 2x + 0
Angle
63.43°
Distance between points

Rise over run
Slope is Δy ÷ Δx — how much y changes per unit of x. From (1, 2) to (5, 10), rise 8 over run 4 gives slope 2. Positive slopes climb, negative fall, zero is flat, and vertical lines have no defined slope because run is zero.
From slope to line
One point plus the slope pins the whole line: y − y₁ = m(x − x₁), rearranged to y = mx + b. In data work this same idea becomes linear regression — the best-fit slope is the relationship's strength and direction.
