Ideal Weight Calculator

See ideal body weight ranges from four established formulas.

Quick answer

'Ideal' weight is an estimate from formulas like Devine or Robinson (based mainly on height and sex) or from the healthy BMI range of 18.5–24.9 for your height. It's a rough target, not a medical prescription — frame and body composition matter too.

Your height
cm / in

Ideal weight (Devine formula)

70 kg

Robinson

69 kg

Miller

69 kg

Hamwi

72 kg

Healthy BMI range

57 kg–76 kg

Four formulas, one idea

Each formula anchors a base weight at 5 feet and adds per inch above it. Devine (1974) was built for drug dosing and became the clinical default; Robinson and Miller are later refinements; Hamwi is the oldest. They typically agree within a few kilograms — the spread is the honest answer.

Ideal is a range, not a number

Frame size, muscle mass, and age all shift what's healthy for an individual — the healthy-BMI weight span for your height is a better target zone than any single formula's output. Use these numbers as orientation, not prescription.
